It is one thing to provide an integrated system that
is able to support multiple satellites, it’s quite another to
produce a system that has multi-satellite support efficiently integrated
throughout the entire system. In reality, a poorly designed multi-satellite
system solution can produce a system that is extremely difficult to
use and maintain.
L-3 Telemetry-West’s InControl was
designed specifically to address the needs of the operator in support
of a multi-satellite system. InControl’s
user interface provides a consistent system wide user interface that
simplifies the effort required to monitor and control multiple satellites
from a single console. Operational expenses are minimized by allowing
one operator to control multiple spacecraft simultaneously.
Incorporating a Java-based common system wide interface, InControl is
highly configurable and provides multi-platform support. The system was
designed from an operators perspective, allowing for status “at
a glance” for the spacecraft, payload and ground equipment. InControl is
designed to be highly configurable by the end user, providing support
for individual operational concepts and mission unique requirements.
